Wizernes (Dutch: "Wezerne") is a northern French municipality in the Pas-de-Calais department of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region . It is four kilometers southwest of Saint-Omer on the banks of the River Aa . The community is divided into several districts and is related to Ensdorf in Saarland. It is part of the Caps et Marais d'Opale Regional Nature Park .
history
The village is based on a Gallo-Roman oppidum and was named Weserinium in 844 . During the Second World War, the site was badly damaged as a result of an Allied air strike as part of Operation Crossbow on the nearby V2 rocket launching base at Schotterwerk Nordwest .

traffic
The departmental roads D928 and D211 cross here. The station is on the non-electrified railway line from Saint-Omer to Hesdigneul . The Saint-Omer-Wizernes airfield is used for general aviation only.
