The ice hockey league , the third highest division in German ice hockey , was played for the fifth time in four regional groups in the 2014/15 season. Oberliga Nord
The Oberliga Nord covers the area of the federal states of Bremen, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein. Game operations are organized by the DEB.
Participant and mode
The Adendorfer EC withdrew to the regional league for financial reasons. Instead, the promoted ESC Wedemark took part in the Oberliga Nord. Since there were no relegated members from the DEL2 or other promoted teams from the regional league, there were nine participating teams.
The main round was played as a double round from October 4, 2014 to February 13, 2015. This was followed by a pre-playoff round (8th versus 9th in best-of-two) and subsequent playoffs (quarter-finals in best-of-seven, semi-finals in best-of-five, finals in best-of -Three mode) until March 24th, the master is determined. The two finalists were also qualified for the quarter-finals of the promotion playoffs.

Playoffs
Pre-playoffs
The envisaged pre-playoff round in "Best-of-Two" mode became superfluous due to the ongoing bankruptcy proceedings of the Grafschafter EC 2011 . The ESC Wedemark Scorpions reached the quarter-finals as bottom of the table without a fight.
Playoff tree
The first round of the playoffs will be played in "Best-of-Seven" mode, the second round in "Best-of-Five" mode and the final in "Best-of-Three" mode. The two finalists are qualified for the quarter-finals of the promotion playoffs.

Oberliga Ost
The Oberliga Ost covers the area of the federal states of Berlin, Brandenburg, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. The organizer for the first time is the Ice Sports Association of Saxony-Anhalt.
Participant and mode
The ERV Chemnitz 07 filed for bankruptcy and therefore withdrew from the league. Since no team from the Eastern group had been promoted to the DEL2 and there were also no relegated teams from the DEL2, initially only seven teams took part in the Oberliga Ost. Due to the bankruptcy filing for the EHC Jonsdorfer Falken at the end of September 2014, these were eliminated and only six teams took part in the main round.
The main round was played in the form of a double round, which was completed by January 18, 2015 and after which the teams ranked 1 to 4 in the Oberliga Mitte final round with the teams of the Oberliga West participated.

Oberliga West
The Oberliga West covers the area of the federal states of Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. The games are organized by the Ice Sports Association of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Participant and mode
The rise of the Kassel Huskies and the Löwen Frankfurt in the DEL2 meant that the western group of the Oberliga was only made up of a field of eight teams this season, as there was no relegation from the DEL2 and the Königsborner JEC for financial reasons withdrew. The newcomers are on the one hand EHC Neuwied and the second representation of the Frankfurt Löwen. After a year-long guest appearance in the Regionalliga West, Neuwied was immediately promoted again and replaced the Grefrather EG team, which had also been withdrawn .
The main round was played in a double round that ended on January 18, 2015.
- The first place in the main round was champions of the Oberliga West.
- The teams ranked 1 to 4 after the main round took part in the final round of the Oberliga Mitte with the teams from the Oberliga Ost.
- The teams in places 5 to 8 after the main round played the Oberliga Middle Cup with the teams in places 5 and 6 of the Oberliga Ost .
- The teams in places 5 to 8 after the main round took part in the Oberliga West relegation round with the teams in places 1 to 4 of the Regionalliga West .
