The FDP held its 1991 federal party conference from November 1st to 3rd, 1991 in Suhl (Thuringia). It was the 42nd regular federal party convention of the FDP in the Federal Republic of Germany and the first in East Germany.

Course and resolutions

Otto Graf Lambsdorff (1990)

At the party congress Otto Graf Lambsdorff was confirmed as party chairman with 433 of 646 delegate votes. Uwe-Bernd Lühr was elected as the new General Secretary, replacing Cornelia Schmalz-Jacobsen .

At the party congress, the paper “Social opportunities through a liberal market economy” was adopted and the decision to introduce long-term care insurance was taken. Further decisions were made on military aid for Turkey , illegal arms deliveries to Israel , the regionalization of social security systems , conscription , intergovernmental conferences of the European Union on the European Parliamentary Union and the European Economic and Monetary Union, as well as on liberal policies for self-determination, human and minority rights in Yugoslavia .

A total of 662 delegates were invited to the federal party conference . According to the membership of the regional associations as of December 31, 1990 (330 delegates) and the number of votes (330 delegates) in the federal election of December 2, 1990 , the regional associations stood for the term of office of the delegates, which began on May 1, 1991 and ended on April 30, 1993 ended up having the following delegate rights. The calculation by the federal office took place on February 1, 1991 and was communicated to the regional associations.
