The Federal Congress of the FDP in 1949 held the FDP from 10 to 12 June 1949 in Bremen from. It was the 1st ordinary federal party conference of the FDP in the Federal Republic of Germany . The party conference took place in the Bremen town hall .

Course and resolutions

The first regular party convention of the Free Democrats was also the first “election party convention”, as the first federal elections took place two months later . After the laboriously concealed battles between the regional associations at the founding party congress in Heppenheim , this party congress was all about internal party unity. The chairman Theodor Heuss and his deputy Franz Blücher were confirmed almost unanimously in their offices. The subsequent board elections went almost smoothly.

With the “Bremen Platform”, the delegates decided on a common programmatic basis, which, in addition to the commitment to German unity, primarily dealt with the situation in the Soviet occupation zone and other current issues such as dismantling, denazification , etc. The subject of “tax reform” also emerged. The party congress laid an important foundation stone for the liberals' success in the federal elections in August 1949 with 11.9 percent.

Delegate key

According to the statutes, 174 delegates and 22 board members were entitled to vote. The regional association of South Baden with eight delegates and one board member did not appear.
