Galina Vjatscheslawowna Maltschugina ( Russian Галина Вячеславовна Мальчугина , English transcription Galina Malchugina ; born December 17, 1962 in Bryansk ) is a former Russian athlete and winner of Olympic medals.

Life

Galina Maltschugina specialized in the 200-meter run and with the team in the 4 x 100 meter relay . She had her first international success at the age of 26 at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul . Here she won the bronze medal together with her teammates Lyudmila Kondratjewa , Marina Schirowa and Natalja Pomoschtschnikowa , behind the teams from the United States (gold) and the GDR (silver). At the next Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992 , starting for the united team , she won the relay silver medal together with Olga Bogoslowskaja , Marina Trandenkowa and Irina Priwalowa , behind the team from the USA (gold) and in front of the team from Nigeria (bronze).
