The heilbronn business school was founded in 2005 as a private college of the Dieter Schwarz Foundation. Studies were initially ensured with master’s courses from partner universities. The MBA program at hbs and the master’s degree in Business Law (LL.M.) started in October 2006.

The hbs was institutionally accredited on July 7, 2006 by the German Science Council . Since July 18, 2006 it has been a state-recognized university of applied sciences by the state of Baden-Württemberg .

On June 16, 2009, the university was renamed the German Graduate School of Management and Law . In April 2011 the graduate college "Dynamic Capabilities and Relationships" was founded together with the economics faculty of the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder).

The German Graduate School of Management and Law was reaccredited by the Science Council in September 2013 for a maximum period of ten years.

organization

The GGS offers university graduates an extra-occupational master’s degree with a duration of four semesters (18 to 24 months). The courses take place in an extra-occupational weekend format.

The MBA program and the master’s degree in Business Law (LL.M.) started in October 2006. The university offers a total of eight master’s courses.

Since 2008, GGS has been offering executive education courses in business and law. The program consists of specially designed in-house training courses for individual companies, open seminars such as the Leadership Certificate and the Women in Management series, as well as a series of lectures.

For example, the tuition fees for the General Management MBA course amount to 7,375 euros per semester (as of 2017), of which up to 75 percent is covered by a scholarship from the Dieter Schwarz Foundation . Currently (as of October 2016) there are around 300 students at the GGS. The president of the university was Thomas Armbrüster from July 2008 to June 30, 2009 . From July 2009 to July 2011, Dirk Zupancic (Chief Executive Officer) and Tomás Bayón (Academic Dean) jointly managed the GGS. From July 2011 to December 2016, Dirk Zupancic held the position of President and Managing Director. The cooperation with Zupancic ended in the course of the decision of the Dieter Schwarz Foundation about the settlement of a state university on the education campus, in which the GGS should be integrated in the long term according to the foundation's ideas. Tomás Bayón has been head of GGS since January 2017 as a board member of the university and sole managing director.
