history

The idea of using the Hehre-Platz in Zofingen for major music events was born in the early 1970s. However, this project was not actually implemented until 1991 with the anniversary " 700 years of the Swiss Confederation ", when a one-day open air was integrated into the regional celebrations. The headliner of the first edition, which attracted 4,000 visitors, was Roger Chapman .

In the following year, the second edition of the Hehre Open Air was held on a private basis. Alison Moyet appeared as the top act . With 2500 visitors left, the event ended with a significant shortfall.

It wasn't until the third edition in 1993, which was spread over two days with a new concept, that the breakthrough came. The headliner at the time was Candy Dulfer . In 1994, the new sponsor of the event was the Heitere Open Air AG. National sponsors could also be won. At the same time, the supporting program was also strengthened.

From 1998 the event was extended to three days and a campground was made available for the public next to the open-air area. In 1999, several national and international stars appeared at the Hehre Open Air, including Gölä and Züri West as well as Massive Attack , Die Fantastischen Vier , Jovanotti and Gianna Nannini . The ninth edition achieved a previous visitor record with 35,000 spectators and thus contributed significantly to consolidating its base. In the years that followed, numerous other well-known national and international artists performed at the Hehre Open Air.
