Hold Me Tight ( English Hold me ) is a song by British band The Beatles , in 1963 on their second album With the Beatles was released. It was composed by John Lennon and Paul McCartney and published under the author's name Lennon / McCartney .

John Lennon and Paul McCartney composed Hold Me Tight in 1961 at McCartney's childhood home at 20 Forthlin Road in Liverpool , but it is mainly based on McCartney's musical ideas.

The Beatles added Hold Me Tight to their live repertoire between 1961 and 1963.

On April 30, 1973 Paul McCartney released the album Red Rose Speedway with the group Wings , on which there is also a song called Hold Me Tight , but the two songs are not musically identical.

First version:

Ten of the fourteen songs of the first Beatle album Please Please Me recorded the band on February 11, 1963 in London's Abbey Road Studios - in addition, Hold Me Tight , which was not used for the album. The producer was George Martin , assisted by sound engineer Norman Smith . The band recorded a total of thirteen takes between 7:30 pm and 8:15 pm. In the final compilation of the album, however, the song was not used; Recordings can no longer be found and were probably deleted.

Second version:

Hold Me Tight was recorded on September 12, 1963 at Abbey Road Studios with producer George Martin. Norman Smith was the sound engineer for the recordings. The band recorded a total of nine takes, with the sixth and ninth takes being edited for the final version.

The song was mixed in mono on September 30, 1963 and in stereo on October 29 .

On November 12, 1963 in Germany the first Beatles album was released With the Beatles , on the Hold Me Tight is included. In Great Britain the album was released on November 22, 1963, there it was the second Beatles album.

In the US, Hold Me Tight was featured on their second album Meet the Beatles! published on January 20, 1964.
