The regional district of Ikaria ( Greek Περιφερειακή Ενότητα Ικαρίας Periferiaki Enotita Ikarias ) is one of five regional districts of the Greek region of North Aegean . It was formed from four island communities of the former Samos prefecture on the occasion of the administrative reform in 2010 and corresponds to the area of ​​the Ikaria province, which existed until 1997. In proportion to its 9,882 inhabitants, the area sends two representatives to the regional council, but has no further political significance as a regional authority. It is divided into the two islands and municipalities of Fourni Korseon and Ikaria .
