The regional district of Ikaria ( Greek Περιφερειακή Ενότητα Ικαρίας Periferiaki Enotita Ikarias ) is one of five regional districts of the Greek region of North Aegean . It was formed from four island communities of the former Samos prefecture on the occasion of the administrative reform in 2010 and corresponds to the area of the Ikaria province, which existed until 1997. In proportion to its 9,882 inhabitants, the area sends two representatives to the regional council, but has no further political significance as a regional authority. It is divided into the two islands and municipalities of Fourni Korseon and Ikaria .
