La Gouesnière ( Breton Gouenaer ) is a municipality with 1893 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in Brittany in north-western France in the Ille-et-Vilaine department . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Malo and the canton of Saint-Malo-1 (until 2015: canton of Saint-Malo-Sud ). The inhabitants are called Gouesnériens .
geography
La Gouesnière is about nine kilometers southeast of Saint-Malo . The Canal des Allemands runs through the municipality . La Gouesnière is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Méloir-des-Ondes in the north, Saint-Benoît-des-Ondes in the east and northeast, La Fresnais in the east and southeast, Saint-Guinoux in the south and Saint-Père-Marc-en- Chicken in the west and south-west.
The municipality's train station is on the Rennes – Saint-Malo railway line .
