Vieux-Viel ( Breton : Henwiel , Gallo : Vioez-Vieu ) is a French municipality with 315 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine in the region of Brittany . It belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Malo and the canton of Dol-de-Bretagne (until 2015: canton of Pleine-Fougères ). The inhabitants are called Vieux-Viellois .

Vieux-Viel is about 38 kilometers east-southeast of Saint-Malo . Vieux-Viel is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Pleine-Fougères in the north, Sougéal in the east, Val-Couesnon with La Fontenelle in the southeast, Bazouges-la-Pérouse in the south and Trans-la-Forêt in the west.
