Lachen is ten kilometers southeast of Memmingen in the Donau-Iller region in Central Swabia.

history

Until the church is planted

Laughter was part of the Kempten Monastery . With the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss of 1803, the place came to Bavaria. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

Outsourcing

On May 1, 1978, parts of the area with then around 40 inhabitants were assigned to the Ottobeuren market ( Niebers and Schiessenhof ).

The coat of arms was approved by the government of Swabia on August 11, 1986 .

Blazon : "Under a silver shield head, inside a red sloping bar covered with a gold lattice, divided twice by blue, red and blue, three silver iron hats next to each other on top."

The lords of Rothenstein, the marshals of Pappenheim, who died out around 1500, and the prince monastery of Kempten were important for the history of the municipality. The inclined beam is taken from the coat of arms of the Lords of Rothenstein. The iron hats come from the coat of arms of the marshals von Pappenheim. Red and blue are the colors of the coat of arms of the prince monastery Kempten.

The design of the coat of arms comes from the monastery archivist and district home administrator Aegidius Kolb and the design was done by Max Reinhart from Passau.

Economy including agriculture and forestry

In 1998 there were four in agriculture and forestry, 47 in manufacturing and seven in trade and transport at the place of work. In other economic areas, 14 people were employed at the place of work subject to social security contributions. There were a total of 446 employees at the place of residence subject to social security contributions. There were 13 companies in the manufacturing sector and three in the construction sector. In addition, there were 42 farms in 1999 with an agricultural area of 941 hectares, 761 hectares of which were permanent green space.
