The women's discus throw at the 2015 World Athletics Championships took place on August 24 and 25, 2015 in Beijing , People's Republic of China .

The Cuban Denia Caballero won this competition. Vice world champion was the Croatian Sandra Perković . The German Nadine Müller won the bronze medal.

qualification

The qualification was carried out in two groups. The qualification distance for the direct entry into the final was 63.00 m. Since only four athletes exceeded this distance (highlighted in light blue), the final field was filled with the next best athletes from both groups to a total of twelve participants (highlighted in light green). In the end, 60.72 m had to be achieved to be in the final.

The favorite for this competition was the Croatian Sandra Perković, who had been ahead in all major championships in recent years. She was the world champion of 2013 , the Olympic champion in 2012 and European champion of 2012 / 2014 . The contenders for the other medals included the vice world champion from 2013 and vice European champion from 2014 Mélina Robert-Michon, the three German throwers Nadine Müller - vice world champion 2011 / vice European champion 2012 / Olympic champion 2012, Shanice Craft - EC third 2014 - and Julia Fischer - EC -Fifth 2012/2014.

The Cuban Denia Caballero surprised with her first litter, who achieved 69.28 m and was thus at the top of the field. With almost four meters behind - 65.53 m - Müller was second. In the second round Perković had her first valid throw with 65.53 m, which she was now in third place. Before the three finals of the best eight throwers, nothing changed in this order. Fourth place went to Fischer with 63.88 m, fifth was Australian Dani Samuels with 63.08 m, followed by Chinese Su Xinyue - 62.90 m, Cuban Yaimé Pérez - 62.63 m - and Craft with 61, 80 m. Rounds four and five brought only minor changes: Perković improved by two centimeters, but remained in third place, Pérez reached 64.60 m, which climbed to fourth place, Samuels achieved 63.14 m, that was Sixth, and Craft came in 63.10 m, seventh. With her last litter on 67.39 m, the actual favorite Sandra Perković then moved past Müller to silver. But Denia Caballero remained the winner, while the bronze went to Nadine Müller. Yaimé Pérez came fourth ahead of Julia Fischer and Dani Samuels. The seventh and eighth place went to Shanice Craft and Su Xinyue.
