Ruins of the castle of the Barons of Les Angles
It was built in the ninth century and sits enthroned on a hill above the village. In the 15th century it was abandoned by the barons of Les Angles and left to decay. The manorial rule of the Baronate of Les Angles lasted for centuries from the Middle Ages to the French Revolution . It was owned by the Les Angles family until 1310, the Armagnac family in 1377 and finally by Roux de Gaubert from 1734 to 1789.
Today only one structure remains at the entrance of the former complex and the keep , which was partially collapsed. In 1980 a private person bought the parcel and the ruins on it and had the keep rebuilt true to the original. The former residential building is now the office for the vacation rentals.
Mill La môle du castet
The watermill belonged to the barons of Les Angles, who carried out the mill compulsion with it , which meant that they had the sole right to build and operate the mill and that all farmers had to have their grain milled there. This small mill is located above the Échez and was built in 1734 at the foot of the castle. With the French Revolution, the mill shelf went out and the mill was sold as a national good. It passed through several hands and was restored in 1829 and 1849. Her water wheel was spinning until 1985 when she was abandoned. The municipality bought it in 2001 in order to restore it again, including the inflow and the machinery. Today she has a grinder for wheat and one for corn.
