Leuscheid is a Protestant church village in the municipality of Windeck in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The place is located on the Leuscheid ridge of the same name .

history

The place Leuscheid was first mentioned in 1131 as Liuuenskeit . The Leuscheider church was confirmed as possession of the Cassius monastery in Bonn. The bailiwick of Leuscheid was the property of the Counts of Sayn , who had to cede Leuscheid to the Duke of Jülich in 1477 .

In 1565 Leuscheid was reformed. The first Evangelical Lutheran pastor was Heinrich Seil.

In 1607 Leuscheid came to the dukes of Berg . After 1806 Leuscheid belonged to the canton Eitorf as Mairie . In 1808 the parishes of Herchen and Leuscheid were merged to form the municipality of Herchen, as not enough people could be found for two administrations. The honeys of Halscheid and Geilhausen , which at that time belonged to the parish of Leuscheid , were not added to the parish of Leuscheid to the municipality of Herchen at the request of the 440 residents, but to the municipality of Dattenfeld . Reasons were the distance of three hours, the impassability of the Sieg and belonging to the parish Rosbach . From 1810 to 1969 Leuscheid belonged to the municipality of Herchen.

The wooded ridge of Leuscheid to the south is of the same name and leads from Hennef to Weyerbusch between the old Frankfurter Straße and Sieg . Like the Nutscheid located on the other bank of the Sieg, the Leuscheid was used as a launching base for V1 rockets during World War II.

The National Labor Service Department 4/319 built in Leuscheid in 1936 a camp named " Schlageter ". After the Second World War, a recreation home for disabled people was built there on the same site. Today the building of the Christian Relief Organization in Leuscheid stands there. The facility is now closed.

Today, the formerly independent districts of Reidershof , Bonhof and Niederleuscheid also belong to Leuscheid .

The homage from 1730/31

Elector Karl Philipp von Pfalz-Neuburg , who was also Duke of Jülich-Berg , had no male descendants and therefore wanted to appoint his brother Franz Ludwig as heir. For this purpose, in 1730, he ordered his officials to make the subjects an "eventual oath of homage".

On July 21, 1730, the bailiff of Windeck, Maximilian Heinrich Graf von Velbrück, received the instruction to demand the "eventual homage" from local officials and court clerks, who in turn drew up lists of people in January 1731 who were obliged to take the oath of homage. These lists were then read publicly from the pulpit by the pastors of the respective churches on Sundays. The tribute lists of the Windeck office include around 3000 people. As a rule, only the first and last names of the heads of family are given, rarely a profession. The Windeck office was considered the poorest country in the otherwise rich Duchy of Jülich-Berg. Its inhabitants were all small farmers or artisans, the few better-off people were referred to as lords in the tribute lists.

For the area in the parish of Leuscheid, the list was compiled by Ernst Wilhelm Becker, the mayor of Leuscheid who lives in Werfen . The number of hearths (residential houses) in the parish of Leuscheid was 143, divided into the localities
