The FC Levadia Tallinn is an Estonian football club . Originally from Maardu , the club now plays in Tallinn .
history
In 1999 the first division team Tallinna Sadam and the old FC Levadia Maardu , which had previously competed as Olümpia Maardu and was renamed in 1998 after the takeover by Ukrainian Viktor Levada , decided to merge. While the newly founded team competed under the name FC Levadia Maardu in the Meistriliiga , the second team played as FC Maardu in the second division.
Already in the first year Levadia achieved the first championship title, which could be defended in 2000. When the second team made promotion in 2001, it was named Levadia Tallinn, while the first team continued to take on as Levadia Maardu. In 2002 Viktor Levada even put three teams in the Meistriliiga when FC Levadia Pärnu played first-class for one season.
In 2002 the club achieved its first cup victory in club history. Ironically, Levadia Tallinn and Levadia Maardu faced each other in the final, the game ended 2-0 for Tallinn. In the Supercup final in the same year, however, Flora Tallinn was beaten on penalties .
Before the 2004 season, Levadia Maardu was renamed Levadia Tallinn. At the same time, the original FC Levadia Tallinn returned its license, which was given to JK Merkuur Tartu . At the end of the season, the club's third championship title was recorded. It even managed to double after FC TVMK Tallinn was clearly defeated 3-0 in the cup final. The Supercup could not be won again, Flora Tallinn was stronger again and won 2: 1.
In the following year they were again in the final of the cup and with a late goal from Vitali Leitan the runner-up achieved a 1-0 victory. However, TVMK Tallinn was stronger in the final of the Supercup and you could not win this title again.
2006 achieved the fourth championship title in the club's history. 30 wins and 114 goals scored meant 11 points ahead of runner-up JK Trans Narva . In the same year, the club became the first Estonian club to qualify for the first round of the UEFA Cup when Twente Enschede were beaten 1-1 in the Netherlands and a 1-0 home win. There Newcastle United proved to be too strong and could decide both games for themselves.
