List of the largest cities in Europe

This list shows all cities in Europe with more than 500,000 inhabitants, sorted by population in descending order, with national capitals highlighted . The figures refer to the cities within their administrative boundaries without politically independent suburbs. Since the handling of administrative boundaries differs in the various European countries and suburbs have not been incorporated into the respective core cities (see e.g. Brussels , Paris or Manchester ), these figures are only comparable to a limited extent.
