List of medieval rock bands

The list of medieval rock bands includes nationally known music groups that belong to the genre of medieval rock . Music groups are considered to be nationally known if they have performed their own concerts outside of their home region, have published at least one album on a well-known label or have received national press reception.

Typical of the genre's style is the mixing of German rock , hard rock or metal with music from the Middle Ages , mostly in the form of bagpipes and shawms , occasionally harps , hurdy-gurdy , flutes , pipes and lutes as well as texts inspired by the Middle Ages. The use of medieval songs also takes place selectively.
