Location of Lotterberg in Kempten (Allgäu)

Lotterberg (also Am Lotterberg ) is a district of the independent city of Kempten (Allgäu) . This district is located in the north of the city and borders the districts of Thingers , Breiten and Halden . The name Lotterberg probably refers to the soil properties of the elevation: It is a mountain with too loose ("too lotter") soil.

history

Lotterberg was first mentioned in 1394 and 1427. 1443/56 is a stiftkemptisches feud mentioned on the Lotterberg. In 1486 the estate was known as the Lotterberg on the Rottach . In 1593 about three properties are documented.

Lotterberg belonged to the captaincy of Neuhausen , whose territory in the 1818 Municipal Education for Rural municipality St. Lawrence came. In house statistics from around 1800 Lotterberg is mentioned with two farms, with areas of 23.39 and 55.18 days of work , which together corresponds to 26.77 hectares . These two properties correspond to today's street addresses Tilsiter Straße 22/24 and Königsberger Straße 34/36. The highest point of the Lotterberg elevation, which gives it its name, is located on the southern border of the latter property, at a height of over 760 meters.

On October 1, 1934 Lotterberg was excluded from the rural community of Sankt Lorenz and joined together with other localities of the city of Kempten. In 1950 there were five apartments in the district. In 1966, the village of Lotterberg had a population of 22 people. By the late 1960s at the latest, there was a lot of building activity comparable to that of Thingers . In May 1987, 1661 inhabitants lived in 745 apartments in this district.
