- Under the title Des Knaben Wunderhorn , Clemens Brentano and Achim von Arnim begin collecting folk song texts in three volumes. The work is completed in 1808.

- Ludwig van Beethoven : On April 7th, the 3rd Symphony ( Eroica ) in E flat major op. 55 will be performed for the first time under the direction of the composer in the Theater an der Wien . In the same year Beethoven composed the following works, among others: To Hope - Lied op. 32, 7 Lieder , op. 52;
- Antonio Salieri : Del redentore lo scempio for four-part choir and orchestra (approx. 1805); Mass in D minor for solos, four-part choir and orchestra ; Veni Sancte Spiritus per Festo Pentecostem , B flat major for four-part choir and orchestra; Lauda Sion Salvatorem in C major for four-part choir and orchestra;
- Anton Eberl : Sonata for piano and violin in B flat major op.35
- ETA Hoffmann : incidental music for Zacharias Werner's tragedy The Cross on the Baltic Sea

- 5th June : World premiere of the opera Di locanda in locanda e semper in sala by Johann Simon Mayr in Venice.

- September 30th : Premiere of the opera Gulistan ou Le Hulla de Samarcande by Nicolas Dalayrac in Paris, (Opéra-Comique).
- October 26 : Premiere of the opera La roccia di Frauenstein by Johann Simon Mayr in Venice.
- November 20th : The world premiere of the first version of Ludwig van Beethoven's only opera Fidelio takes place at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna under the direction of Ignaz von Seyfried . Carl Demmer , Anna Milder and Joseph Rothe sing the leading roles.
- December 26th : premiere of the opera Gli americani by Johann Simon Mayr in Venice

- Michele Carafa : Il fantasma (opera); Il prigioniero (opera)
- Joseph Weigl : Vestas Feuer , an opera in two acts, is performed for the first time. In addition, the German version of the opera L'uniforme , which premiered in 1800, was released in the same year . The German title of the work is Die Uniform .
- Louis Emmanuel Jadin : The composer premieres the following three operas: (1) Les Trois Prétendus ; (2) Le Grand-père ou Les Deux Ages and (3) Charles Coypel or La Vengeance d'un peintre
- Peter von Winter : Der Frauenbund (Komische Oper). JM von Babo wrote the libretto. The world premiere took place in Munich. In the same year the composer brought out the opera Zaira with a libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte, based on Voltaire, in London .
