NXT TakeOver (Series)
NXT TakeOver is the name of a series of major wrestling events that WWE organizes at regular intervals with its development league NXT and which are broadcast live on the WWE Network . NXT TakeOver events are usually designed to last two hours, but some have also lasted longer. They are held several times a year.
The first major NXT event was held under the name NXT ArRIVAL in February 2014. After the subsequent major event was advertised as NXT TakeOver , this name prevailed and has since been used for all major NXT events. At first they took place exclusively at Full Sail University in Winter Park , Florida , United States , since NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn in August 2015, they have been held at different locations, usually on the day before a pay-per-view of the main rustler .
A new concept was introduced with NXT TakeOver: Toronto in November 2016: The supporting program for the so-called Big Four pay-per-views ( Royal Rumble , WrestleMania , SummerSlam and Survivor Series ) now starts with an NXT TakeOver special on the Saturday before on Sunday the show itself takes place. An edition of the weekly shows from WWE Raw and SmackDown Live will follow on Monday and Tuesday . All four events are partly held at the same location or even in the same arena. However, this does not necessarily mean that an NXT TakeOver can only take place before one of the Big Four pay-per-views.
