At the XXII. At the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow , 26 swimming competitions were held, 13 each for men and women. The venue was from 20.-27. July 1980 the indoor swimming pool in the Olimpijski sports complex . In the women's competitions, the dominance of swimmers from the GDR was overwhelming; they won 26 out of 36 possible medals.
