The Rýchlostná cesta R7 is a partially completed expressway in the south-west and south of Slovakia , which is mainly in the planning stage, and will connect the Danube lowlands to the Slovakian expressway network. In the first part from Bratislava to Dunajská Streda it will replace the 1st order 63 , then to Nové Zámky it will be built without parallel streets and from Nové Zámky to the end at Lučenec it will follow the course of the 1st order 75 .

The planning of the expressway goes back to the 1990s, but at that time a two-lane version was expected. The preparation of the project was approved by the resolution 523/2003 of the Slovak government.

PPP project

Together with parts of the D4 motorway , sections Bratislava-Prievoz – Bratislava-Ketelec (6.3 km), Bratislava-Ketelec– Dunajská Lužná (8.4 km) and Dunajská Lužná– Holice (17.4 km) were developed as part of a PPP Project built. Four new interchanges (Bratislava-Vlčie hrdlo, Dunajská Lužná, Šamorín and Holice) and motorway junctions at Ketelec (with the D4) have been created, plus a large rest area on both sides at Blatná na Ostrove . At the end of Bratislava, the expressway ends on Bajkalská Street , where the existing junction with the D1 motorway is also being rebuilt. The aim of the project is to relieve the traffic in the south-east of Bratislava as well as the 1st order street 63 in the greater Bratislava area.

The PPP project is being implemented by the Obchvat Nula consortium (Zero Bypass Limited), led by the Spanish Cintra Infraestructuras Internacional. After the contract was signed on May 20, 2016, total completion was expected in 2020 and 2021. The official start of construction was on May 24, 2016. October 2016.

The Ketelec – Dunajská Lužná and Dunajská Lužná – Holice sections, together with the Ketelec – Rovinka section of the D4, were released on July 19, 2020. The remaining section from the Bajkalská road to the Ketelec motorway junction is to be opened to traffic in summer 2021.
