The Rýchlostná cesta R3 is an expressway in the central part of Slovakia that is still largely in the planning stage . It will replace the state highways I / 59 , I / 65 and I / 66 on its route . Larger or medium-sized cities on the expressway are: Dolný Kubín , Ružomberok , Martin and Zvolen . It runs between Ružomberok-západ and Martin together with the D1 .

Only 19 km of the actual expressway have been built: 6.7 km near Trstená , about 6.5 km near Oravský Podzámok and about 4.3 km near Horná Štubňa are built as two-lane bypasses. Only the 1.6 km long stretch from the Martin motorway triangle to the Martin-sever junction has been expanded to include four lanes. In addition, the R3 runs 21 km together with the R1 between Žiar nad Hronom and Zvolen.

There is currently no section under construction.
