The LVR-Industriemuseum, Schauplatz Oberhausen , is one of six locations of the LVR-Industriemuseum . The museum includes:

• The museum in the Altenberg zinc factory with the permanent heavy industry exhibition (directly at Oberhausen main station ).
• The museum platform (large exhibits in the main train station, on platforms 4 and 5).
• The Eisenheim Museum in the workers' housing estate of the same name on Berliner Strasse in Oberhausen Osterfeld
• The St.-Antony-Hütte , built in 1758, was the first ironworks in the Ruhr area.

The completely preserved zinc factory, which is under monument protection, was closed in 1981. In 1984 it was taken over by the Landschaftsverband Rheinland (LVR) and expanded as the headquarters of the museum, which has been open since 1997.

In the 3500 square meter "Heavy Industry" exhibition there are exhibits from the 150-year history of the iron, steel and zinc industries in the Ruhr area . You can visit a steam hammer from the former Bochum association , but also molds , rollers and a steam locomotive .

The Oberhausen location of the LVR industrial museum is the anchor point of the Route of Industrial Culture .

The headquarters of the LVR industrial museum, which is also located in Oberhausen, includes management and administration as well as various workshops and the central collection depot in the Peter-Behrens-Bau, the listed former main warehouse of Gutehoffnungshütte .
