NGC 3132 is a planetary nebula in the constellation Sails of the Ship in the southern sky. It is about 2,000 light years from the Sun , almost half a light year in diameter, and expanding at a speed of around 15 kilometers per second. NGC  3132 has a surface area of ​​1.47 'and an apparent magnitude of 9.2 mag. In some publications it is also referred to as the Southern Ring Nebula because of its similarity to M57 .

The planetary nebula NGC 3132 was discovered on March 2, 1835 by the British astronomer John Herschel .
