The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Avranches and the canton of Isigny-le-Buat (until 2015: canton of Avranches ). The inhabitants are called Lupéens .

Saint-Loup is located about 52 kilometers south-southwest of Saint-Lô and about five kilometers east-southeast of the city center of Avranches . Saint-Loup is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Saint-Senier-sous-Avranches in the north and north-east, Saint-Ovin in the east and north-east, Saint-Quentin-sur-le-Homme in the south and south-east and Saint-Martin-des-Champs in the West.
