Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology

The Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT, Thai : สถาบัน เทคโนโลยี นานาชาติ สิริ น ธร ) is a technical university in Pathum Thani , Thailand, which is assigned to Thammasat University . This is named after Princess Sirindhorn , a daughter of King Bhumibol Adulyadej .

The SIIT offers training in the fields of science , technology , engineering and management . All studies are designed as international programs and are held in English .

The university is a member of LAOTSE - an international network of leading universities in Europe and Asia . It also collaborates with universities in Germany such as the University of Ravensburg-Weingarten , TU Darmstadt , TU Munich , Uni Kassel , and Uni Siegen . Furthermore, cooperations are maintained with universities in Helsinki, Paris and Japan.

The decision to create the institute was taken in 1989 during the ninth meeting of the Japan-Thailand Joint Trade and Economic Committee Meeting in Kobe ( Japan ) by representatives of the Japanese Association of Economic Organizations ( Keidanren ) and the Association the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI). A cooperation agreement with Thammasat University has existed since 1992. The foundation stone was laid on September 16, 1994 . On October 2, 1997 , the SIIT began teaching.
