al-Muʾminūn
Al-Muʾminūn ( Arabic المؤمنون, DMG al-Muʾminūn 'The Believers') is the 23rd sura of the Koran , it contains 118 verses . Its title refers to the first verse. Western scholars of Islam and Muslim commentators agree that it belongs to the second Meccan period (615–620), in which the signs of God in creation and His intervention in human history in the form of Criminal courts come up.

The first verses of the sura contain good news for the believers, who are promised paradise in verse 11 . Verses 12 to 22 describe God as creator and provider of man, to which some of the figures in verse 23-53 prophets story : be mentioned Noah and the Prophets after Noah, among Hūd from the people of 'Ad or Salih of the people of Thamud are understood , Moses and Jesus . The next section (verses 54 to 98) deals with the mission of Muhammad , the opposition of the wealthy, and the arguments for monotheism . The sura closes with statements about the Last Judgment and retribution. In this final part, in verses 102 and 103 the scales ( Arabic الموازين al-Mawāzīn ), on which the fate of the people is decided immediately before the resurrection. Al-Mawazin is also the name of the arcade thatclosesthe eight-sided staircase to the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem , which corresponds to the Temple Mount ( al-haram asch-sharīf /الحرم الشريف / 'The noble sanctuary') gives a special meaning in the Islamic world.
“Those who then have heavy scales will fare well. But those who have light scales have then lost themselves. "
