Trezeguet , bourgeois Mahmoud Ahmed Ibrahim Hassan ( Arabic محمود حسن, DMG Maḥmūd Ḥasan ; * October 1, 1994 in Kafr el-Sheikh ), partly also Mahmoud Hassan or Mahmoud Trezeguet , is an Egyptian football player in the position of midfielder . He has been an Egyptian international since 2014 .

Club career

Started his career at al Ahly Cairo

Trezeguet was born on October 1, 1994 in the northern Egyptian city of Kafr al-Sheikh and began his club career as a football player in 2002 in the youth division of the Egyptian record champions al Ahly Cairo , around 150 kilometers from his hometown. After years in the youth field and the reserve team, he made the leap into the professional squad in 2012 and made his debut in the Egyptian first class in the 2012/13 season . He was substituted on February 2, 2013 in a 1-0 away win over Ghazl El Mahalla SC in the 82nd minute for the veteran and multiple national player Abdallah Said .

Mainly due to the military coup in Egypt in 2013 , the Egyptian Premier League was canceled at the beginning of July 2013, with only al Ahly Cairo and al Zamalek SC having played all previous games and competition distortions had already occurred before that. Up until then, the young midfielder had made seven league appearances and before that he had also played a few group games in the 2012 CAF Champions League . Trezeguet was also in action in the Egyptian Football Supercup 2012 and won the game with his team 2-1 against the ENPPI Club . Furthermore, during the FIFA Club World Cup in 2012 , when his club took part in the game for third place, but lost it, he made the quarter-finals and sat on the bench in the following two games without being used. Three weeks after his league debut, he was also a short-term substitute in the CAF Super Cup 2013 , which the club won after a 2-1 victory over AC Léopards .

When al Ahly Cairo won the CAF Champions League in 2013 , Trezeguet was also involved in most of the games, although he only made short appearances himself. At the subsequent FIFA Club World Cup 2013 in Morocco, he also took part in both of his team's games, the 2-0 in the quarter-finals against the Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande and the final game for fifth place, which was 5-1 against CF. Monterrey was lost from Mexico. In the following 2013/14 season , which began at the end of December 2013, Trezeguet became a regular in the various midfield positions of his team, making 17 league appearances and two goals in the regular championship as well as three games in the final play-offs and on End with the team of Egyptian champions before the Smouha Sporting Club was. As the Champions League defending champion, the 1.79 m tall midfielder and his team were eliminated from the CAF Champions League 2014 in the second round against Al-Ahly Benghazi after the first round match against the Young Africans from Tanzania had only just ended in favor of the Egyptians .

In February 2014 al Ahly Cairo won the CAF Super Cup for the second time in a row after beating CS Sfax 3-2 . In the 2014/15 season he made 31 missions, five goals and six assists in the regular championship by the end of the season. Before that, he had already played in the Egyptian Football Supercup on September 14, 2014 and had won the game on penalties against al Zamalek SC. After winning the CAF Confederation Cup 2014 , the Egyptian capital city club was unable to defend its title in the CAF Super Cup 2015 and lost the game on penalties against ES Sétif . In the 2015 CAF Champions League , Trezeguet and the team were eliminated from the tournament again in the second round, this time after losing on penalties to the Moroccan club Maghreb Tétouan . During the championship he was mainly used in offensive positions this season and often acted as a left or right winger; between May and June 2014 he had to sideline a few games due to a shoulder injury. At the end of the season, he and al Ahly Kairo were eight points behind al Zamalek SC in second place in the table and thus qualified for participation in the 2016 CAF Champions League .

Trezeguet in Belgium

After Trezeguet had attracted attention and was often courted because of his performances in league events and international matches, in August 2015 he moved to Belgium to the record champions RSC Anderlecht . The young Egyptian was loaned out for a year with a subsequent purchase option, with the club paying a rumored rental fee of one million euros to al Ahly Cairo. The official presentation of the player only took place after all medical tests and other preparations had been completed in September 2015. After winning the U-20 African Cup in 2013 with the Egyptian U-20 national team , he had offers from various European clubs, including Celtic Glasgow or Nottingham Forest .

Due to a shoulder operation that put him out of action for a few months, Trezeguet's debut in Anderlecht was delayed and it wasn't until December 27, 2015 that he made his first brief appearance in a 2-1 win against KVC Westerlo . The first appearance in the starting line-up against KAA Gent (0: 2) followed a good month later . The sporting breakthrough did not materialize, however, which coach Besnik Hasi mainly justified with the language barrier and his observation that the former star player in Egypt did not find his way in the new role among his equals. Nevertheless, Anderlecht acquired the transfer rights to Trezeguet in May 2016 for 2.3 million euros. In preparation for the 2016/17 season he seemed to be starting over under Anderlecht's new coach René Weiler , but after signing the Romanian Nicolae Stanciu , the club's management preferred a loan deal in Belgium. The choice fell on the first division competitor Royal Excel Mouscron .

In the first seven compulsory games there he was directly involved in five goals and he scored two hits himself; Mouscron's then coach Glen De Boeck ennobled Trezeguet as the most talented player on his team. The good performances in the relegation candidate made his regular club in Anderlecht sit up and take notice and the voices increased that Trezeguet could soon replace the unconvincing Stanciu. With his goal to the 2-0 win against KV Kortrijk Mouscron left the relegation ranks and a short time later he returned to Anderlecht. However, the conditions had changed in the meantime and the signs were goodbye. Anderlecht's new coach René Weiler classified Trezeguet as tactically undisciplined - an opinion shared by Mouscron's coach Mircea Rednic .

Change to Turkey

In addition to a return to the Egyptian homeland, a move to Galatasaray Istanbul was also up for discussion, as was a contract termination. Ultimately, Anderlecht's club management agreed with Galatasaray's league rivals Kasımpaşa on another one-year loan deal with a purchase option for two million euros. As in Mouscron, Trezeguet knew how to convince from the start and he scored three goals in the first four league games. A red card against Bursaspor later resulted in a three-game suspension. The good form did not wane and supported by a double-digit number of goals in the 2017/18 season , Kasımpaşa decided to change clubs in April 2018 and provided Trezeguet with a contract that ran until June 30, 2020. He was also part of the nomination list for Player of the Year in the Süper Lig, which Bafétimbi Gomis ultimately won. Regardless, he was associated with numerous other clubs in the summer of 2018. In addition to Galatasaray again, Inter Milan was also interested, but this also failed because Inter intended an immediate loan to Parma because the quota of foreign players in the squad was exceeded. Slavia Prague were also willing to pay the fixed transfer fee of five million euros, but despite an alleged personal promise, Trezeguet later took it back to continue playing for Kasimpasa. The 2018/19 season was also positive for him with nine goals in 34 league games.

Aston Villa

In July 2019, Trezeguet joined Aston Villa in the English Premier League for £ 8.75million .

National team career

Trezeguet made his first appearances for the Egyptian U-20 national team from 2012, including qualifying for the U-20 African Championship in 2013 . In the subsequent finals in Algeria , he took part under coach Rabie Yassin as the youngest player of the 21-man Egyptian selection, where he was used in all five games of his team. In the end, the team won the tournament after beating the U-20s from Ghana on penalties . Especially after this tournament victory, European clubs became aware of the Egyptian young talent and wooed it, but his home club spoke out against the departure of the midfielder. After the African Cup , Trezeguet was also part of the Egyptian selection, which took part in the 2013 U-20 World Cup in Turkey between June and July 2013 . There he was used in all three group games of his team and scored, among other things, in a 2-0 victory over England's U-20s a goal after submission by Ahmed Refaat . Since the team as third in group E did not qualify in the ranking of the best third in the group, the team dropped out of the competition after the group stage, which France would subsequently win.

On August 30, 2014, Trezeguet made his senior national team debut at the age of 19 years, ten months and 30 days when he played under coach Shawky Gharib in a friendly international match in a friendly international match in central midfield in a 1-0 win over Kenya came and was replaced from the 70th minute by the over 100-time national player Ahmed Fathy . In November 2014 he was nominated by Gharib for two qualifying games for the 2015 African Championship in the national squad. After playing the full game against Senegal in attacking midfield, he was on the bench four days later and was not used in the following game against Tunisia . Since the team only ranked last after determining the best third party in the group, the record winner of the African Championship failed to make it to the finals for the third time in a row.

Trezeguet was able to record another friendly international appearance on March 26, 2015, when he played for the full 90 minutes on the left side of midfield in the 2-0 win over Equatorial Guinea and after a presentation by Saleh Gomaa also the 2-0- Winning goal scored. After he was out in June due to a shoulder injury, among other things, he did not return to another international match until September 2015. He was used in the qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations 2017 against the Chadian national football team in the second half, when he came on the field for Ramadan Sohbi and in the 62nd minute prepared the goal of the hat-trick shooter Basem Morsi with a cross to make it 5-1 .

He was part of the Egyptian squad at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, in which Egypt was the last in Group A to be eliminated in the group stage after losing to Russia , Uruguay and Saudi Arabia . He was used in all three games.
