Alexander Hill (born March 11, 1993 in Berri ) is an Australian rower who was second in the 2016 Olympics with the four-man without a helmsman .

Athletic career

Hill started rowing in 2009. At the Junior World Championships in 2011 , he won the title in four-man with helmsman . In 2012 he rowed the bronze medal at the U23 World Championships with eighth . In Sydney he made his debut in the 2013 rowing World Cup with a second place in the uncontrolled foursome. Together with Angus Moore, he won the silver medal at the U23 World Championships in a pair without a helmsman , and at the 2013 World Championships in the adult class, Hill took seventh place with the Australian eighth.

In 2014 the Australian eighth won with Alexander Hill at the World Cup opener in Sydney, at the 2014 World Championships , the crew reached seventh place as in 2013. In 2015 Hill switched to the four without a helmsman. After winning the World Cup in Lucerne, William Lockwood , Joshua Dunkley-Smith , Spencer Turrin and Alexander Hill took second place behind the Italian four at the World Championships . In 2016 Joshua Booth moved into the foursome for Turrin, who won the silver medal at the 2016 Olympic Games behind the British but ahead of the Italians .

In the post-Olympic season 2017, Alexander Hill rowed successfully in four and eight at the Rowing World Cup . At the World Championships in Florida he started in a four-without with Joshua Hicks , Spencer Turrin and Jack Hargreaves and won the world championship gold medal. In 2018, the Australian four-man won the same line-up as in the previous year at the World Cup regattas in Linz and Lucerne and also at the World Championships in Plovdiv .
