Autonomous Community :

The Autovía A-92 , also briefly A-92 , is an autonomous Andalusian highway Sevilla with Almería combines and performs the cities Estepa , Antequera , Granada and Guadix .

It is divided as follows:

It starts on the Seville ring road (SE-30), continues southeast to Antequera (Málaga), where it connects to the A-45 and continues east towards Granada.

  • A-92 from km 376 ( Tabernas ) to A-7 (Tabernas) is publicly owned.
  • A-92M (formerly A-359) connects Salinas train station with Villanueva de Cauche
  • A-92G (formerly A-329) connects the Santa Fe with Granada
  • A-92N connects Guadix (Granada) with Puerto Lumbreras.

It runs through the provinces of Seville , Málaga , Granada and Almería and is the longest autonomous highway in Spain. The motorway ends in Guadix (Granada province) and merges with the A-7 .

history

The designation "A-92" was proposed for the first time at a university exhibition in Seville in 1992 . It has been proposed to upgrade the national roads N-334, N-342, N-324 and N-340 to the motorway (Autovía). Necessary adaptations were made, such as avoiding level crossings and crossings and bypassing cities. The route originally planned in 1986 ran from Seville to Baza , via Antequera and Granada . In 1993, the route was officially opened, one year late.

From the beginning it was planned to extend the route from Puerto Lumbreras to the Murcia region . The line was then opened four years after the opening of the first section. In 1995 some politicians and business people from the province of Almería called for a connection to be built to the motorway from Almería, which connects the capital Almería with Guadix. This section was completed and opened in 2002.

The last sections of the autobahn had to be closed several times due to the onset of winter and the associated mudslides. The reason for this is that a layer of asphalt only 12 centimeters thick was applied instead of the usual 25 centimeters. This saved money during construction, but the maintenance costs were all the higher because it had to be renewed several times.

At the Darro exit, too, there was often damage to the thickness of the asphalt due to the savings measures. It was alleged that the government had too little money because of the 1996 Alpine World Ski Championships in the Sierra Nevada. The government denied this allegation.
