Avoine is a French commune with 1,743 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Indre-et-Loire in the region of Center-Val de Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Chinon and the Canton of Chinon . The inhabitants are called Avoinais (es) .
geography
Avoine is on the south bank of the Loire , into which the Indre flows. Avoine is surrounded by the neighboring communities of La Chapelle-sur-Loire in the north and northeast, Huismes in the east, Beaumont-en-Véron in the south, Savigny-en-Véron in the west and south-west and Chouzé-sur-Loire in the north-west.
The Chinon nuclear power plant is located in the municipality .
