Castle Hill is a town in Aroostook County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010 there were 425 inhabitants in 211 households on an area of 93.6 km². The towns of Castle Hill, Mapletown and Chapman have made an agreement for joint management of their towns. The common administration of the towns is in Mapletown. Castle Hill and Mapletown have been working together since 1947 and Chapman joined in 1974.

Geographical location
Castle Hill is in the middle of Aroostook County. The Aroostook River flows through the north of the town. There are several smaller rivers that flow north into the Aroostook River, but there are also others that flow south. There are no lakes in the town area. The surface is rather flat, but in a north-south direction some elevations run centrally through the area. The highest point is the 385 m high Pyle Mountain .

To the south is the Unorganized Territory Central Aroostook and to the northwest is Northwest Aroostook .

history
On April 23, 1866 organized as Castle Hill Plantation what the area previously known as Township No. 12, Range 4 , the settlement was named a town on February 25, 1903. The area was settled along the old State Route that connected Ashland with Presque Isle . The first settler to settle here was Jabez Trask, a former general in the militia in 1843.

Maine State Route 227 runs through the city from Ashland to Presque Isle . The city never had a railway connection. The nearest airport with scheduled flights is in Presque Isle .
