Masardis is a town in Aroostook County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010 there were 249 inhabitants in 166 households on an area of 103.4 km².

According to the United States Census Bureau , Masardis has a total area of 103.39 km², of which 100.31 km² is land and 3.08 km² consists of water .
Geographical location
Masardis is centrally located in Aroostook County. Many of the surrounding areas are unorganized territories ; only one of them has its own name, Squapan in the east. Masardis is located at the confluence of the St. Crouix Stream and the Aroostook River . The Scopan Lake borders the area of the town in the northeast. To the north is the 247 m high Grove Hill, to the south the 247 m high Pollard Mountain. The Aroostook Scenic Highway passes Masardis.

history
The town was founded on March 21, 1839. As the first settler, Thomas Goss and his family reached the area in 1933 and settled on the west bank of the Aroostook Rivers. The town consists of several settlements: Haymock (previously had a post office), Hotham (previously had a train station), Masardis, Squa Pan, Stimson (previously had a train station) and Willard (previously had a train station). The place has a cemetery.

traffic
The Maine State Route 11 , also Aroostook Seenic Highway leads north to south through Masardis. It connects Masardis with Ashland and the Canadian border in the north and Sherman in the south.
Public facilities
There is no library in Masardis. The closest are available to residents of Masardis in Ashland, Presque Isle or Caribou.
The Katahdin Valley Health Center has a facility in Ashland that can also be used by the residents of Masardis.
education
The Ashland School District is located in Ashland and is part of Maine School Administrative District # 32 . In addition to Ashland, the district also includes Garfield Plantation, Masardis, Oxbow, Portage Lake and Sheridan. The Ashland District School offers classes from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade for approximately 320 school children. The school is accredited with the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
