Chapman is a town in Aroostook County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010 there were 468 inhabitants in 213 households on an area of ​​100.5 km². The towns of Castle Hill, Mapletown and Chapman have made an agreement for joint management of their towns. The common administration of the towns is in Mapletown. Castle Hill and Mapletown have been working together since 1947 and Chapman joined in 1974.

Today's town was founded on April 27, 1874 as Chapman Plantation. About 40 people lived there in 1870. Ten years later, in 1880 it was already 166. It was measured by the surveyor Cyrus Chapman, who also set the boundary markings, and marked with his name. Since then she has been called Chapman. The timber industry is the main occupation in Chapman. From 1910 onwards, Chapman experienced an influx of further settlers through the railway line and became a town on March 11, 1915. In 1947, Chapman joined the school district with Mapleton, Castle Hill, Wade, Washburn and Perham and the local school closed. The school building, which is more than 100 years old, was built in timber frame construction and is now used as a town hall for citizens' meetings, the meeting of the snowmobile club and for the fundraising dinner.

The only road access is a narrow country road to Mapleton . Chapman is located on the Squa Pan – Stockholm line , on which freight trains of the Montreal, Maine and Atlantic Railway still operate occasionally . From 1910 to 1951 passenger trains stopped at the city's train station. The nearest airport with scheduled flights is in Presque Isle.
