Perham is a town in Aroostook County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010 there were 386 inhabitants in 190 households on an area of 94.9 km².

According to the United States Census Bureau , Perham has an area of 94.9 km² , 94.6 km² of which consists of land and 0.3 km² of water .
Geographical location
Perham is in the northeast of Aroostook County. Salmon Brook Lake is in the area of the town . The lake and the adjacent marshland are a nature reserve. To the north, Mud Lake borders Perham. Several smaller rivers flow south through Perham. The surface is rather flat, without any major elevations.

history
Perham was settled in 1856. The first settlers included the McIntire, Blacksmith, and Reverend Morse families. Before that there were only lumberjack camps of the lumberjack John Goddard. Swedish families later settled in this area, coming via Woodland. Perham was officially organized in 1867 as a plantation . The original name for this area was Township No. 14, Fourth Range West of the Easterly Line of the State (T14 R4 WELS). The place was recognized as a town in 1897. The city is named after the governor Sidney Perham . Logging and agriculture have shaped the place. There were various mills in Perham, and maple syrup and sugar were also produced. The place was formerly on a route of the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad , the former track bed is now used as a hiking trail (Bangor and Aroostook Trail).
