Hodgdon is a town in Aroostook County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010, 1309 people lived there in 568 households on an area of 103.5 km².

According to the United States Census Bureau , Hodgdon has a total area of 103.52 km², of which 103.13 km² are land and 0.39 km² are water .
Geographical location
Hodgdon is located in the southeast of Aroostook County, on the border with Canada . The surface of the town is flat. The highest point is the 259 m high Westford Hill located southeast of Hodgdon. The Meduxnekeag River flows through the western part of Hodgdon .

history
The town was founded on February 11, 1821 and named after John Hodgdon, the early landowner. The town emerged from the two townships in the north of the Groton Academy Grant and in the south of the Westfield Academy Grant. The first settlers got their land from John Hodgdon. The nearest train station is in Houlton on the former European and North American Railway .
There were various mills on the Meduxnekeag River, including three sawmills and a grist mill. Products included long and short sawn timber, clapboards, chairs, flour semolina, carriages, boots and shoes. The first sawmill was built by Jabez Bradbury in 1828. There was also a steam wood mill.
