Geographical location

The Winterville Plantation is located in the north of Aroostook County, on Saint Froid Lake , which does not belong to the plantation, but divides it into two parts. history

Winterville was settled in 1846 and organized as a township in June 1884. The original name for this area was Township No. 15, Seventh Range West of the Easterly Line of the State (T15 R7 WELS). This was legally recognized in 1895. From 1903 to 1907 the place name was temporarily changed to Hill Plantation .

Aroostook Road Main State Route 11 runs north-south through the eastern portion of the area. It connects the area of ​​the Plantation with Fort Kent in the north and Patten in the south. Winterville Plantation is on the Oakfield – Fort Kent railway line .
