Christoph 6 is a rescue helicopter stationed at the Links der Weser Clinic in Bremen , which was put into service on December 20, 1973.

history

On December 20, 1973, the first Christoph 6 was put into service by the then State Secretary and later Federal Minister of the Interior, Gerhart Baum . The yellow BO 105 had the registration D-HDAX. It was not until November 1974 that the helicopter was given its own hangar. In 1975 Christoph was equipped with a special helicopter incubator for transporting premature babies. Just 18 months after its commissioning, the crew flew their 1000th mission.

On February 4, 1980, the BO 105 was replaced by a Bell 212 . This had a rescue winch on board.

At the beginning of 1996, the Federal Ministry of the Interior decided not to continue operating six rescue helicopters for civil protection nationwide and also terminated the contracts of Christoph 6 in Bremen. However, the state of Bremen decided to continue air rescue and in July 1997 awarded the contract to ADAC air rescue . A yellow MBB / Kawasaki BK 117 is used as the aircraft. This was replaced by a Eurocopter EC 135 in August 2011 .

Incidents

On June 9, 1977, the pilot overlooked a high-voltage line during the approach. After recognizing the situation, he pulled the control stick back to come to an immediate stop. The tail tilted so far that the tail rotor touched the ground. The helicopter spun and hit hard. There was a high level of property damage, but the crew was not injured.

During a mission on March 2, 1994, the pilot overlooked a five-meter-high light mast and the replacement helicopter, which was currently in service, crashed. A total loss occurred, but the crew was not injured.

In 2017 the helicopter landed on the Weser and touched a tree. He was taken away on a flatbed truck.
