Christoph 61 is the radio call of a rescue helicopter of the ADAC , which for the air rescue in the region around Leipzig was provided.
Station, use and occupation
The helicopter is stationed at the Dölzig Air Rescue Center in Schkeuditz -Dölzig. It is open daily from 7 am to sunset in readiness . He is from Florian Leipzig to rescue with emergency medical indication alerted when an ambulance emergency vehicle (NEF) is not available on time or the type of injury transporting a patient requires by helicopter.
During his missions, Christoph 61 is manned by a pilot from ADAC Luftrettung, an emergency doctor from clinics in Leipzig and Halle and a rescue assistant from ADAC Luftrettung. The paramedics are part of the helicopter crew ( HEMS Technical Crew Member ) and support the pilot in the areas of communication and navigation, while the emergency doctor is legally a passenger .
history
Christoph 61 was officially put into service on April 2nd, 1990 as the first rescue helicopter in the new federal states . Operator was until 31 October 2005 , the International Air Ambulance , which by the ADAC air rescue was replaced.
In the spring of 1990 the rescue helicopter was initially stationed in the NVA military hospital (later Bundeswehr military hospital) Leipzig-Wiederitzsch, from June 1991, together with Christoph Leipzig (today: Christoph 63 ), at Leipzig / Halle Airport . The new location in the Dölzig industrial park was inaugurated on December 12, 2007 , and the two rescue helicopters have been stationed there ever since.
