Christoph 70 is the nickname of a rescue helicopter (RTH), which is provided for air rescue in and around Jena . It is operated by ADAC Air Rescue and is ready for use every day from 7 a.m. to sunset.
Station, use and occupation
In June 1994, flight operations at Jena-Schöngleina airfield began under the radio call name SAR 77 with a Bell UH-1D of the Bundeswehr. In January 1998 ADAC Luftrettung , a subsidiary of ADAC , took over the provision. In 2005 Christoph 70 received a new air rescue center on the edge of the airfield. He is ready for action every day from 7 a.m. to sunset and is alerted via the Jena rescue control center. ADAC Luftrettung uses a Eurocopter EC 135 for Christoph 70 .
During his missions, Christoph 70 is manned by one of three pilots from ADAC Luftrettung, an emergency doctor from the Jena University Hospital and a paramedic from the DRK district association Jena-Eisenberg-Stadtroda. As HEMS crew members, the paramedics are part of the helicopter crew and support the pilot.
Christoph 70 is one of three rescue helicopters in Thuringia alongside the two Christoph 60 in Suhl and Christoph 37 in Nordhausen operated by the DRF Luftrettung . In addition, the intensive care transport helicopter Christoph Thuringia is mainly available for patient transfers and secondary missions, but can also be alerted for primary missions.
