Christoph Munich is the intensive care transport helicopter stationed at the Großhadern Clinic of the LMU . The master machine is a Eurocopter H 145 helicopter with the aircraft registration D-HDSF. If this machine fails z. B. for repairs or maintenance it was regularly replaced by a Bell 412 from the fleet pool of HDM Luftrettung until 2010 , meanwhile other EC145s from DRF Luftrettung are being used. Christoph Munich was the first intensive care transport helicopter in Germany in 1990 (at that time still with the radio identification Sama 78/1) and is one of the four intensive care transport helicopters in Bavaria (next to Murnau, Nuremberg and Regensburg). The responsible rescue control center is the Integrated Rescue Control Center Munich, coordination center for ITH (KITH). The crew consists of one or, at night, two professional pilots ( HDM Flugservice ), a paramedic or paramedic ( Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund München) and an emergency doctor with special intensive medical knowledge (mostly anesthetists and surgeons from the Großhadern Clinic). In July 2014, the world's first was Eurocopter EC 145 T2 to the DRF Air Rescue passed what u. a. for the stationing in Munich at the turn of the year. The new EC 145 T2 was put into operation on February 11, 2015. When the helicopter manufacturer was renamed from “Eurocopter” to “Airbus Helicopters”, the model “EC 145 T2” was renamed “H 145”.

Calls

Christoph Munich is ready for action 24 hours a day. Night vision devices can be used for night flights, a rarity in German air rescue so far. Although it is designed as an intensive care transport helicopter, it is also increasingly performing primary rescue tasks. The proportion of so-called primary missions in which the helicopter crew cared for an injured or sick person at the emergency site has risen to over 40% in recent years. In 2006, Christoph München flew over 1000 missions for the first time (1013; 2005: 973, 2004: 854), in 2007 it was already 1108. Christoph München is mainly used in Bavaria, but also regularly flies Germany-wide and cross-border transfers (Northern Germany, Austria, Italy).

Historical

The initial radio identification was Sama (Bavaria) 78/1. It changed in the course of ITH Munich to the current Christoph Munich. In the 1990s, the radio call name Christoph Munich was used for an ADAC helicopter that was used in the summer months in addition to the Christoph 1 primary rescue helicopter stationed in Munich .
