Christoph Mittelhessen is the nickname of an intensive-care transport helicopter of the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe stationed at the Reichelsheim airfield (EDFB) . Missions are only flown during the day, i.e. from sunrise to sunset. Its area of application includes all of Germany.
history
The Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe has been operating an intensive care transport helicopter at the Reichelsheim airfield since 1996 , which is tolerated by the state of Hesse . Since 2006 this has been called Christoph Hessen. At that time, there was a gap in the Hessian air rescue network in the north-west of Hesse, which consisted of the rescue helicopters Christoph 2 , Christoph 7 , and Christoph 28 . For this reason, a location for the helicopter was sought. In 2010, Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe was commissioned by the State of Hesse to operate the helicopter. The new location in Giessen was approved following aviation law audits and in 2014 the air rescue center in Giessen went into operation with Christoph Giessen . Christoph Hessen was then renamed to Christoph Mittelhessen and is still stationed in Reichelsheim . So there are now two helicopters of the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe in Hessen.
