Christopher 77

Christoph 77 is the rescue or intensive-care transport helicopter stationed at the University Medical Center of Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz , which began its first service in July 1997 - initially in 24-hour operation. Since 2007, the rescue helicopter has only been flying in day duty due to a decision by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate .

The operator is ADAC-Luftrettung GmbH , which also provides pilots and on-board technicians . The flying ambulance doctors are from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. The responsible rescue control center is the Mainz rescue control center.

history

“Christoph 77” was almost stationed in the Bad Kreuznach / Wiesbaden area, but no suitable on-site clinic was found there. New considerations to use a cross-border intensive care transport helicopter (ITH) between Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate led to the University Hospital in Mainz being selected as the location. The initial working title “Christoph Rhein-Main” became “Christoph 77” shortly before its commissioning.
