Christoph Brandenburg (formerly Christoph 71 ) is an intensive care transport helicopter (ITH) in Germany, in the emergency rescue of the country Brandenburg involved and the air rescue station of the ADAC air rescue in Senftenberg is stationed. It is mainly used for interhospital transports of emergency patients and intensive care patients while all necessary medical measures are continued. If necessary, the helicopter, which operates 24 hours a day, can also be used for emergency operations in the rescue service.
In contrast to the Christoph 33 , the rescue helicopter also stationed in the Senftenberg air rescue station , Christoph Brandenburg has a weather radar and night vision devices .
Station, mission and crew
The intensive care transport helicopter (ITH) Christoph Brandenburg shares the Senftenberg air rescue station with the rescue helicopter (RTH) Christoph 33, which has been stationed there since December 1991 . The station's operations are coordinated by the operations control center in Cottbus . The Cottbus air rescue control center is also the integrated Lausitz regional control center and the central coordination center for relocation flights commissioned by the state of Brandenburg.
Christoph Brandenburg , as well as the second regular operational in Brandenburg ITH Christoph Berlin , round daily hours in standby . The field of activity of the ITH, which is responsible for the Ministry of the Interior and for Municipalities of the State of Brandenburg, includes the State of Brandenburg, neighboring federal states and neighboring countries ( Poland , Czech Republic ).
The main task of the ITH is the transfer of emergency and intensive care patients from a hospital to a hospital suitable for further medical care (so-called secondary deployments ). In special cases he also takes on rescue missions ( primary missions ), especially at night, if a rescue helicopter or other suitable rescue equipment is not available within the relief period.
The legal basis for the use of helicopters is in particular the State Rescue Service Plan Ordinance (LRDPV) issued on the basis of the Brandenburg Rescue Service Act and supplementary service instructions . There is also an agreement between the State of Berlin and the State of Brandenburg on cooperation in air rescue on the basis of a state treaty on cooperation in emergency rescue between the two countries.
Christoph Brandenburg's crew consists of one pilot during the day and two ADAC air rescue pilots at night, an emergency doctor and an emergency paramedic from the Niederlausitz Clinic . As HEMS technical crew members, the emergency paramedics support the pilot (s) in the areas of communication and navigation, while the emergency doctor is legally a passenger . The emergency doctors come from the specialist disciplines of anesthesia , internal medicine and surgery .
history
The ITH Christoph Brandenburg was put into service on July 1, 1994, then still with the nickname Christoph 71 , and has been operated by ADAC Air Rescue ever since . An MBB / Kawasaki BK 117 was used as the first machine . This was replaced in 2003 by the newer model of the BK 117, a Eurocopter EC145 . At the beginning of August 2016, the Eurocopter EC 145 was replaced by the Eurocopter H145 (EC 145 T2).
Since April 2018, Christoph Brandenburg has been using special night vision goggles for emergency missions in unknown terrain even after sunset.
