Christoph 41 (formerly Rotkreuz Baden-Württemberg 7 ) is a rescue helicopter of the DRF Luftrettung , which is stationed in Leonberg and is used for air rescue in the area.

Christoph 41 is to be withdrawn from Leonberg in the next few years due to a structure and needs analysis.

His new location will be near Tübingen.

Station, use and occupation

The DRF Luftrettung helicopter has been stationed at the Leonberg district hospital since June 1, 1986 and is ready for use every day from sunrise, at the earliest 7 a.m., until sunset. Before that, Christoph 41 was stationed at various stations in Ruit, Böblingen, Ludwigsburg and Marbach.

Christoph 41 is alerted by the Böblingen regional control center for rescue operations (so-called primary operations ) with an emergency doctor indication if an emergency medical vehicle (NEF) is not available in time or the type of injury requires a patient to be transported by helicopter. Although Christoph 41 is not an official dual-use helicopter , it can also be requested for secondary missions , i.e. relocations, from the Central Coordination Office for Intensive Care Transports in Baden-Württemberg .

During his missions, Christoph 41 is manned by a pilot from DRF Luftrettung, an emergency doctor (specialist in anesthesia and emergency medicine) from Hospital Leonberg or the Katharinenhospital Stuttgart and an emergency paramedic from DRF Luftrettung. The paramedics all have the " HEMS TC " qualification and are therefore part of the helicopter crew . They support the pilot in the areas of communication and navigation, while the ambulance is legally a passenger .

As a special feature, an ultrasound device and video laryngoscope are carried along. Additional equipment (extracts) PAX emergency backpack, XL ampoule kit, PAX dream backpack, PAX children's bag, Oxybag and several modular bags with special accessories.
