history

The municipality of Copăcele consists of four villages, where Copăcele and Zorile are inhabited by Ukrainians and were not founded until 1908-1910, while Ohaba Mâtnic and Ruginosu appeared in documents as early as the 18th century and are inhabited by Romanians .

Ohaba Matnik is entered on the Josephine land survey of 1717 . After the Peace of Passarowitz (1718) the village was part of the Habsburg crown domain Temescher Banat .

As a result of the Austro-Hungarian Compromise (1867), the Banat was annexed to the Kingdom of Hungary within the dual monarchy of Austria-Hungary . The official place name was Ruténtelep .

The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in the three-way division of the Banat , whereby Copăcele fell to the Kingdom of Romania .
