Ciudanovița (German: Tchudanovitz , Hungarian: Csudafalva , Serbo-Croatian: Csudanovecz) is a municipality in the Caraș-Severin district , in the Banat region , in southwestern Romania . The village of Jitin also belongs to the municipality of Ciudanovi Gemeindea .

Geographical location

Ciudanovița is located in the east of the Caraș-Severin County, at the foot of the Semenic Mountains , 28 km from Reșița and 22 km from Oravița . Nearby is the Oravița – Anina railway with a stop.

history

Over the centuries different spellings of the place name appeared: 1459 Chwdafalwa , 1538: Chudanowycza , 1690–1700 Csudanovecz , 1737 Tschudanovitz , 1808 Csudanovecz , 1913 Csudafalva , 1909 Csudanovecz , 1919 Ciudanovița .

Schudanoviz is entered on the Josephine land survey of 1717 . After the Peace of Passarowitz (1718) the village was part of the Habsburg crown domain Temescher Banat .

After the Second World War, the village was expanded as a workers' settlement for uranium mining . The first workers to settle here came from Bihor County . The groundwater of Ciudanovița and Lișava is still radioactive today.
