Lăpușnicel (German: Lapuschnizel , Hungarian: Kislaposnok ) is a municipality in the Caraș-Severin district , in the Banat region , in southwestern Romania . The villages of Pârvova and Șumițal also belong to the municipality of Lăpușnicel .
Geographical location
Lăpuşnicel is located in the Caraş-Severin district, 72 km south of Caransebeş and 36 km north of Băile Herculane .

Over the centuries different spellings of the place name appeared: 1603 Kis Lapusnik , Lapusniczel , 1774 Lapusnicza , 1808 Lapuschnicsel 1888 Lapusnicsel , 1913 Kislaposnok , 1919 Lăpușnicel
Lapuschnicel is entered on the Josephine land survey of 1717 . After the Peace of Passarowitz (1718) the village was part of the Habsburg crown domain Temescher Banat .
The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in the division of the Banat into three parts , which Lăpușnicel fell to the Kingdom of Romania .
Not far from Lăpușnicel, where the "Cetate" is called, in 1946 the remains of an ancient Roman fortress were discovered. The archaeological excavations were resumed from 1975 to 1978, with fortress walls being exposed over an area of 60 by 65 meters.
